Tax Burdens

What are your thoughts?

Personally, I 100% support businesses both large and small as well as economic development as it can reduce tax burdens on us all. Currently about most of our tax base rests on the shoulders of residents. Many residents live on fixed income and with the dramatic increase in the cost of living some either have been or will be forced to move. Encouraging and streamlining the opening of businesses can shift some of that tax burden off of residents. However, there is a need for business diversity. Having the same few types of businesses (gas stations, banks, storage facilities, assisted living facilities and car washes) may narrow the scope of skill sets needed and in large numbers could artificially create its own labor shortage and market over saturation resulting in business closures. With a future population estimate at 250,000, we need to plan now for the future.
